One of the great things about MyxerFlix is that it's fully integrated into the
battle-hardened Myxer platform and website. That means all of the great tools for sharing,
selling, and promoting mobile content that have been available for ringtones and
wallpapers can now be used for videos. MyxerTags and MyxerCodes have proven
to be two of the most valuable aspects of Myxer, and MyxerFlix takes full advantage
of both.
The Basics
Getting Started
To start distributing your videos to mobile devices with MyxerFlix, simply register
for a free sharing enabled Myxer account. Then head over to our sharing
dashboard and upload (or point us to) an existing video in any common internet format.
Set pricing and descriptive information, and you're mobile!
How does it work?
The whole process of sharing and selling mobile videos with MyxerFlix is very
straightforward. You simply upload source video in any common video format (or
point us at a URL), set pricing, title, and other descriptive information, and
your video is automatically added to the Myxer catalog. Once in the catalog,
you can easily generate HTML links for your own website, blog, or online profile
(we call these MyxerTags) to make your mobile video available from your website.
You can also make your mobile video available to others via SMS from their mobile
phone by using MyxerCodes.
Who can use MyxerFlix?
Let's see...Rob Reiner, Stephen Spielberg, and Robert Redford. Oh, and that guy
that made that Sixth Sense movie, that was sweet. Aw, heck, and you, too!
All you need is some raw video in any common format (not too raw, mind you),
a free Myxer sharing account, and a few minutes of your time. It's not
just for the big guys!
Money Stuff
What does it cost?
It costs you nothing to distribute your videos with MyxerFlix. If you'd like to
take advantage of the ability to charge money for your videos, we have a simple
revenue split arrangement. So you only have to take money from us, not give it
to us.
Can I charge money for my videos?
Just like all Myxer content, videos may be made available for free or for a premium
price up to US$2.99. A video's price is completely under your control, and may be
set when you first upload the video, or from the artist dashboard.
How do people pay for my videos (if I'm charging)?
If you choose to charge money for your video content by setting a non-free price,
users on the major US carriers can use premium SMS to purchase it. That is, they
simply text a special code to 69937, and the charge is applied to their phone bill
after they download the video.
Users on other carriers will need to use a credit card or PayPal for the transaction.
Technical Mumbo-Jumbo
How long can my video be?
In order to insure the best handset compatibility, we recommend that you use clips that
are less than a couple of minutes in length. Longer clips mean bigger, slower, downloads,
and many handsets and carriers have restrictions on download size that will give end
users a less-than-stellar experience with your video.
That being said, we don't have any explicit restrictions on the size of the video, except
that the originally uploaded file must be under 30Megs.
Sorry, delivering Shogun is right out.
Can I stream my own mobile TV station?
Saaaayy, that's a really cool idea. No, not yet. MyxerFlix currently works with only downloadable
video clips.
Can I make videos available from my own web site?
Oh, yeah. Check it out - once you've uploaded your source video to Myxer, you
can put simple HTML links (MyxerTags) on your own website to provide a quick
and simple way for your website's visitors to send your videos to their phone.

Placing a MyxerTag on your website provides immediate access to mobile versions of
your videos.

How does Myxer help promote my videos?
One of the great things about sharing mobile content with Myxer is that, in addition
to being accessible to all of your website's visitors, we have an audience of tens
of thousands of people every day that look for cool stuff in our catalog. When you
make a great mobile video available with MyxerFlix, it's going to be noticed by
our community. And with our powerful and simple tools for recommendations, sharing,
and general buzz-enablement, you're going to reach a whole new audience.

What Phones and Carriers are Supported?
MyxerFlix will work with most any video-capable phone that has internet access.
A lot of people don't know that even a lot of older phones (like, old as in 2005)
meet these requirements.
You can share free video content with users on virtually any open carrier worldwide.
Premium content is currently supported only on major US carriers with the notable
exception of Nextel. If this bothers you, call Nextel and bug them to allow "off-deck content"
on their network.
What are the supported video formats?
We can import from most common video formats, including Flash (.FLV), Quicktime (.MOV and .QT),
Windows video (.AVI and .WMV), MPEG-4 (.MP4), and that funny format your phone records in, .3GP.
We automatically convert the video to an appropriate format and frame rate for the target
phone.
Can I upload a Flash video file (FLV)?
Yup! We support importing Flash video and most other common video formats. (Note that .SWF files
are commonly used to deploy Flash video to web browsers, but .SWF is not a video format. You need
to have the actual .FLV).
Curiosities
Can I use MyxerFlix to send private videos to my own phone?
Hmm, 'private videos' sounds interesting, but sadly no. MyxerFlix is currently only available
for content producers that have sharing enabled accounts. It's not currently available
in a "Make your own" flavor like our ringtone and wallpaper functionality is. Stay tuned...
Did MyxerFlix Kill the Radio Star?
Ha, ha, no, of course not. Word on the street is that it was Video that killed the radio star. See,
back then, Video was trying to build up his own turf and street cred by rollin over everything connected
with radio. And then with the fame-fallout from that whole MTV thing (you think what happened to
Arnold from Diff'rent Strokes is bad? That's nothing compared to how child-star Video found
himself when MTV decided to stop giving him any air time. Man, the stories I could tell...)
Anyhow, rumors of MyxerFlix's involvement in the whole Radio Star thing have been greatly exaggerated,
probably owing to the fact that MyxerFlix and Video did time together back in Dallas, back even before
the big hair days. As to the actual night in question, MyxerFlix has a really solid alibi, having
been seen by several witnesses in the company of The Buggles at a hipster London nightclub showing
off a brand new dyed blue 'gull.
MixerFlicks, MyxerFlicks, and MixerFlix are other spellings for MyxerFlix that your search engine
might be better at finding.
