how.
How it works
The entire process is very simple, and can be summed up in these steps:
- Upload a song or image file to MyxerTones
- Customize it with our online tools
- Send it to your phone!
Upload a file to MyxerTones
From your MyxerTones home page, you use the file upload tool to select a song
file from your computer and upload it to MyxerTones. Simply click directly on "Send!"
to send the ringtone as is, or click on "customize" to edit the ringtone.
We support most common audio formats (like MP3, WMA, etc.), so chances are it will
work with whatever you have.
Use our online tools to customize your ringtone
Our ringtone editor lets you "dial in" exactly the part of the song that you
want to use for your ringtone.
The wallpaper editor is great for pulling out the important part of an image,
especially useful since most phone screens are really small compared to a computer
screen.
Send it to your mobile phone!
We send a text message to your phone that has a link to your custom ringtone.
You follow the link using your phone's mini-browser (most phones make this a
two button process), and the ringtone will be delivered in the proper format
for your phone.
Common Questions
How much is this going to cost me?
MyxerTones accounts are free. There are no hidden fees. This is not a subscription service.
We do not charge your cell phone bill behind your back. We won't charge you anything for
making your own ringtones and wallpapers.
For more information, see our pricing guide.
Is my phone supported?
Our software works with most phones and carriers out there (both inside and outside the US)
with a few notable exceptions:
Nextel, Boost Mobile, and Telus Mobility have disabled the ability for their users to use
downloaded songs as ringtones and Metro PCS does not currently offer internet access from phones
on their network.
As long as a phone can access the internet and can play real music ringtones chances are
we've got it covered.
The best way to tell for sure is to visit our test page
and send yourself a test ringtone. If you can download the song to your phone and set it as your ringtone, you're golden.
What do I need to get started?
All you need are song or image files available on your computer.
We support most unprotected audio files such as WAV, MP3, WMA, and M4A files generated by WinAmp, iTunes,
Windows Media, and most other audio tools. And we support standard image files such as BMP, GIF, and JPG.
Just upload your song or image files to our server and use our online tools to customize your ringtones or
wallpapers.
Can I share ringtones with others?
If you have a band with original songs, or any other sound or image files you've created,
you can turn them into ringtones and wallpapers that anyone else can download. See our
Share and Sell section for all the details.
Which audio formats do you support?
We support most unprotected audio files such as WAV, MP3, WMA, and M4A files generated by WinAmp, iTunes,
Windows Media, and most other audio tools.
Sorry, but we cannot create ringtones from songs purchased from iTunes (M4P files) or other songs
protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).
Do I need to make new sound files for my ringtones?
Nope, just point us at an existing song file, even if it's longer than what you want to be used
for the ringtone, that's cool. We have online tools that you can use to specify the exact
portion of the song you want to use as your ringtone.
