05.14.12 Myxer Surpasses 1 Million Installs of Myxer Social Radio After Recent Launch

Strong momentum of latest internet streaming radio service and historic milestone of 3 Billion entertainment downloads hit by the Social Entertainment Juggernaut

New York, NY – May 14th, 2012 Myxer, a top U.S. mobile destination for free, ad-supported social entertainment, announced today that its founder, Myk Willis, will participate as a key speaker at OMMA Social in New York on the benefits of Social Integration as the company celebrates its recent achievements. “It’s an exciting time for digital entertainment, and a lot of that has to do with how social integration is enriching both the consumer and advertising experience. I’m looking forward to speaking about social entertainment at this great industry gathering,” said Willis.

Named one of the best music apps in 2011 by RollingStone.com after launching in late November, Myxer Social Radio will surpass 1 Million installs this week. The app has caught the attention of both music lovers and brands as the internet radio service promotes social engagement and personalization by empowering users to create, listen and share music with their Facebook friends. Innovative social features such as music chat and Video Song Stories are just the beginning.

Reaching the 1 Million mark for Myxer Social Radio isn’t the only milestone the company is celebrating. Myxer.com the leading destination for free downloadable social entertainment content recently surpassed 51 Million total users, downloading over 3 Billion content items to their mobile phones.

Through Myxer’s scale and social engagement measures they have quietly claimed a pole position in the social entertainment space. Last week Myxer launched Artists Spotlight, a weekly show where independent artists stream their latest music and fans can interact with the artist in real time during the show through music chat.

Myk’s OMMA session titled “Social Integration: Increased Effectiveness of Digital Campaigns,” will help audience members understand and leverage the underlying social dynamics of today’s mobile Web, based on his success and learning with Myxer Social Radio and Myxer.com. The session will be held at 8:15 AM on Tuesday, May 15th at 82MERCER (82 Mercer Street, New York, NY).

04.12.12 Myxer BoomBox Report Reveals Findings on Mobile-Social Sharing

Survey of 1,022 users shows images are most shared content; Facebook, Google+ are preferred platforms

Miami, FL – April 12th, 2012 Myxer, a top 15 U.S. mobile destination for free, ad-supported social entertainment, today released its latest BoomBox Report highlighting key trends in mobile-social sharing.

The report, “Social Sharing in a Mobile World” reinforces the leadership position of Facebook as a social sharing platform but also indicates strong usage of Google+ on mobile. In addition, the survey shows that more than 50% of respondents shared images from their mobile devices. Facebook’s $1 billion purchase of Instagram this week underscores its recognition of the popularity of image sharing.

Myxer surveyed 1,022 of its mobile users to better understand their present attitudes and behaviors regarding mobile-social sharing. Not surprisingly, when asked how they share images, video and music, users indicated Facebook was the dominant platform. When it comes to sharing from a computer, 58% use Facebook for sharing images and video, as compared to 42% who use Facebook to share from mobile devices. SMS was the second most popular platform for mobile sharing with 37% of users. On computers, email was second with 17% of respondents using it for sharing images and video.

Facebook and Google+

While Facebook was the most popular social network for sharing from mobile devices, Google+ was the second most used social network for sharing from a mobile device, with 10% of respondents indicating usage. By comparison, Twitter was only used for sharing images and video on mobile by 2% of the survey’s respondents and by 3% on computers.

Is The Death of The CD Exaggerated?

In determining how mobile users shared and listened to music, the BoomBox Report asked, “What is the primary way you listen to music?” Surprisingly, the number one response was CDs, with 26% of respondents putting the seemingly outdated platform at the top of their lists. Internet radio was second with 17%, followed closely by broadcast (AM/FM) with 16%.

Who Are We Sharing All This Content With?

Of respondents ages 13-17, 64% said they shared the most content from their phones with their friends, and only 19% shared with family. “Friends” was the top choice for mobile sharing for those aged 18-24 and 25-34. Respondents age 35 or older had a much more even distribution of their preferred mobile sharing across friends and family.

“What’s interesting here is that everyone wrote off Google+ but as a mobile-social sharing platform, nobody should count it out,” said Andrew Coury, marketing and customer analytics manager at Myxer.“As the interaction between mobile and social grows deeper, these insights are informative to advertisers in the mobile space.”

The new sales additions will drive continued growth of Myxer’s social entertainment offerings, including its popular Internet Radio platform, Myxer Social Radio, which recently surpassed 350,000 users since launching in late November 2011.

With more than a decade of experience in advertising sales and sales management across numerous digital platforms, Rudd will oversee and manage advertising sales efforts for Myxer’s East Coast regions. Most recently, he has served in VP and SVP stints at Piczo.com, Socialmedia.com, Double Fusion and Real Network’s GameHouse division prior to joining Myxer.

In a similar role, Wetzel joins Myxer after serving as Director of West Coast Sales at USA TODAY Media Group. Prior to USA TODAY Media Group, Wetzel held several senior level digital and social media sales positions at DoubleClick, Gigya, and VH1.com. She began her career in high-tech marketing and media at Merisel, the second largest computer products distributor in the US (at the time). She also sold high-tech print early in her career where she helped launch online sales for Upside Magazine’s first website.

In addition to Rudd and Wetzel, Myxer also appointed Varvara Althouse as Director, West Coast Sales and Alvord R. Reese as Director of Sales, Midwest.

A veteran of digital, print and cross platform sales including gaming, consumer, entertainment and finance, Althouse began her career at Publicitas Globe Media before joining the fast paced digital space where she helped build up the business in the West Coast territory for IGN, CraveOnline and most recently Forbes.

A well-established sales executive with an emphasis on digital and new media, Reese has a proven track record in driving results for brands such as Disney, Southwest Airlines, Dollar Thrifty, Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Hewlett Packard from successful stints at Interactive One, AOL Networks, UrbanKind, and InfoSpace.

“We are excited to welcome this dynamic group of sales talent to Myxer at this inflection point in our company’s history,” said Myk Willis, Founder, Myxer. “Expanding our world-class sales organization to keep pace with the rapid adoption of Myxer Social Radio and other social entertainment offerings will allow us to continue delivering highly effective digital, mobile and social advertising opportunities to our brand and agency customers.”

02.10.12 Myxer’s BoomBox Report Reveals Key Findings in Mobile Entertainment Consumption and App Usage

Myxer’s BoomBox Report Reveals Key Findings in Mobile Entertainment Consumption and App Usage

Survey of more than 1,200 Myxer users reveal that 72% of consumer’s plan to access entertainment primarily from their mobile device

Miami, FL – February 9th, 2012 Myxer, a top 15 U.S. mobile destination for free, ad-supported mobile entertainment, today released its first quarter BoomBox Report highlighting key trends in entertainment consumption and mobile app usage in 2011. Entitled “What’s App-ening?” the report reinforces the preferred consumption method for entertainment and the incredible demand for free mobile apps.

With more than 35 million monthly mobile visits to its site as well as significant traffic through its mobile apps, Myxer’s audience provides an opportunity to better understand the consumption patterns and platform usage for U.S. consumers. Myxer surveyed more than 1,200 Myxer mobile users to better understand their attitudes and behaviors regarding consumption and mobile apps.

Of the users Myxer surveyed, 38% responded they were very likely to use their mobile phone for accessing all or most of their entertainment content in the future, while an additional 34% were somewhat likely. Only 9% said they were not at all likely to do so.

Another key finding shows that 31% of smartphone users downloaded between 11-20 apps in 2011, most of which were free. The rapid adoption rate appears to have been fueled by the abundance of free content readily available from the iTunes App Store and Android Market. In fact, 72% of the consumers surveyed revealed they had never paid anything for a mobile app and only 9% reported to have spent $3 or more. Given such data, it will be difficult for most publishers to justify anything other than a “free” offering, unless there is tremendous utility value for the consumer.

Satisfaction Guaranteed?

• 49% of respondents who downloaded an app reported being “very satisfied”

• 26% reported being either neutral or outright unsatisfied with the mobile apps they downloaded

• 26% reported being either neutral or outright unsatisfied with the mobile apps they downloaded

Survey of 2,400 mobile visitors to m.myxer.com shows that 53 percent made purchases from their mobile phone with 19 percent saying they made between 2 and 5 purchases a month

Miami, Florida – July 11, 2011 Myxer, a mobile technology company that operates the largest ad-supported mobile entertainment site in the U.S., today released the Myxer Q2 BoomBox Report on mCommerce revealing key findings in consumer’s purchasing behavior among mobile shoppers. The report reinforces consumer’s increasing reliance on smartphones for communications, entertainment, information and increasingly, shopping.

Based on a survey of 2,400 mobile visitors to m.myxer.com, 53 percent responded that they had made a purchase from their mobile phone. The largest group, 19 percent, said they made between 2 and 5 purchases a month. Surprisingly, 16 percent said that they make more than 10 purchases a month. Other key findings include the following:

Mobile Payments

• Taking a closer look at the 53 percent who said they did indeed make purchases from their phone, 31 percent said they preferred to have their mobile purchases charged to their mobile phone bill while 18 percent said they preferred to pay by credit card.

• Broken down by age, younger mobile consumers clearly preferred paying on their phone bill. In the 18-24 year old age range, 38 percent preferred charging their phone bill, while only 14 percent preferred paying by credit card.

• In the 35-54 age range, the credit card was the preferred method of payment at 28 percent versus 23 percent for paying by phone bill. It is also interesting to note that within Android users who purchased, 27 percent preferred to use their credit card.

Music leads the charge for purchased mobile content

• The report also revealed that music stood out as the clear leader of products being bought, representing 68 percent of mobile purchases.

• 5 percent of respondents who bought from their phones said they purchased physical items to be delivered, and another 5 percent said they purchased other digital content.

• With music the dominant item purchased, it was not surprising to see that the largest group, 37 percent, spent less than $5 on their individual mobile purchases.

• The second largest group, 26 percent, opened their mobile wallets to spend more than $20 per mobile purchase.

Shopper Confidence

• Respondents also said they were happy to shop from a variety of merchants with 40 percent purchasing from 2-4 vendors in the past month.

mCommerce Drivers

• Convenience was the top response with 37 percent of the purchasers.

• Price was second with 24 percent of the mobile shoppers.

• A close third at 22 percent was those who shopped from their mobile because of the “cool factor.” When looking at just Android users, “convenience” was the top reason for mobile shopping, with 45 percent of Android users citing it.

“With a large and active mobile audience, Myxer has the opportunity to conduct mobile surveys to help us capture the pulse of mobile consumer behavior,” said Andrew Coury, data analyst, Myxer. “The BoomBox mCommerce report shows that direct mobile purchases should continue to be an exciting area of industry wide growth.”

Miami, FL – December 15, 2010 – Myxer (Myxer Inc.), a mobile technology company that operates the seventh largest U.S. mobile web site*, is featured by Google in the search giant’s annual Zeitgeist report for 2010. Myxer is ranked as the 6th Fastest Rising Search Query in both the Global and U.S. rankings released by Google in their Zeitgeist 2010 look at how the world searched.

“Zeitgeist” means “the spirit of the times,” and every year Google takes a look at the billions of search queries typed into Google and aggregates the data to present insights into the trends of the year. Along with Myxer, some of the other fastest rising queries include Apple’s popular “iPad” as well as the social networks “Facebook” and “Twitter.”
