As The Postmarks, multi-instrumentalists Jonathan Wilkins and Christopher Moll and singer/lyricist Tim Yehezkely, craft cinematic music with subtle nods to Bacharach, Brian Wilson, and vintage French pop.
The band formed when Wilkins was DJing at a Florida club that would have open-mic nights. One evening Yehezkely got up. When the Tel Aviv-born singer silenced, then enthralled, the normally rowdy crowd, he approached her, and then made sure Moll, already established as a gifted composer and producer, and a friend of Wilkins's, met her, too.
Soon the trio had recorded their debut LP, released on Unfiltered in '07. By-The-Numbers, out Nov '08, is a collection of covers united by their ability to meld to Yehezkely’s breathy vocals with lush instrumentation (the titles climb from 1 to 11 – the 12th is left for “Pinball Number Count"). It's an album that points towards the future of the band, a darkness that retains a warmth, alluring and mysterious and innocent and beautiful all at once.
