"Make a dream tomorrow's reality", sings Boston-based singer-songwriter JR, offering a glimpse into his independent soul. I think that I write for the day, and make every detail a page in my life. JR's 2003 EP release Listen Loud brought great attention to Boston's local music scene, leading to gigs opening for Epics Howie Day and Matt Nathanson. JR's roots range from Jackson Brown to Matchbox 20. I like to think of myself as conceptual storyteller, in whatever form the story dictates, not branded as this or that.
In 1999, JR went on to front a band called Even-Tide. They toured for a year playing the college circuit opening for such acts as Eddie Money and the Fools. At the end of 2000, JR relocated to San Diego California. Performing under the name Jon Robert as a solo acoustic pop act, he began to play the beach scene, coffee houses, clubs, and bars for a little under three years. After performing at some of San Diego's best-known venues, JR developed the confidence he was in search of. At
