City Beat magazine praises Minneapolis-based Pictures of Then as having "a sonic balance between reverence for the past and vision of the future." Their sound is fresh enough to appeal to the most discerning of indie-rock fans while still containing essential ingredients to captivate the masses. They are continually attracting new fans on the club scene and at college campuses nationwide.
Their music has been featured on MTV's The Hills and The Real World and licensed by other programs on MTV, USA, Oxygen and Lifetime. In 2008 they were selected for the "MTV Choose or Lose Tour." The band has also appeared on multiple compilation albums along side Green Day, Interpol, and Motion City Soundtrack.
Their debut album was played on college radio nationwide, earning them conference and festival placement across the country. With an ever-growing fan base, it is only a matter of time before this band, firmly rooted in indie soil, becomes one of the few independents to branch out into mainstream success.
