Tamara Podemski is an Anishnabe singer/songwriter hailing from Toronto, Canada. She calls upon her Saulteaux/Israeli roots to inspire her music, creating a fusion of spirituality, politics, and self-empowerment. She has released 2 albums in the Saulteaux language, SPIRIT NATION and SPIRIT VOICES, acting as both lyricist and composer. Under her own label, Mukwa Music, Tamara wrote and produced her music video “Meegwetch,” and wrote and produced her third album, “TAMARA” in 2006. This album received 2 Aboriginal Music Awards for Best Female Artist and Best Songwriter.
