Being born in Detroit, Michigan and raised without a father figure, he's went through stages in his life where he's messed up in school and made bad choices. "Not having a father doesn't affect me, because my mom is my mom and dad in my eyes. It just made me realize that I'd never end up like my dad. I can do bigger and better things than he's ever done without his help." Soulja says. Soulja's father was a bass player for The Temptations when they first started out.
