Karisa Lynn Nowak was born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida. (She proudly points out she shares the same home town roots as Gram Parsons.) She's been singing and performing on stage since the age of six. She's tired. As a young performer her mother entered her in the children's beauty pageant circuit. Mom would dress her in frilly cowgirl outfits and Karisa sang Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA" numerous times. Numerous times. Karisa loves her mother, but is currently seeking legal counsel. Kidding.
After such a unique upbringing, Karisa found herself pouring her feelings and emotions into writing her own songs. Sorry Mr Greenwood. She spent much of her young adulthood performing solo and in various bands around Florida. Surprisingly none of the major labels caught her stints in such bands as "Wild Child", "Bootleg", "Swet" (Actual Spelling), or the world renowned "Deli Kats".
