Dale Miller was born in Washington, D.C. where he began playing guitar in the early 1960s. He soon discovered John Fahey, the inventor of solo steel string guitar playing, and decided to concentrate on that. After years of practice he signed with Kicking Mule Records and recorded three LPs. He was their best selling American based artist in the 1970s. He toured in the U.S., Canada and Europe. In 1983 he became part owner of a guitar shop and cut back on playing.
He has released three critically acclaimed CDs on his own Dale Miller Productions label - Both of Me featuring over-dubbed duets of jazz standards; Azzurro Verdi - opera arias arranged for solo guitar and Stars Fell, where he accompanies singer Alison Faith Levy.
He is on the Fahey Tribute CD The Revenge of Blind Joe Death and has recorded the soundtracks for two short DVDs.
He lives with his wife and dog and cat in Bekeley California and rarely plays on stage these days.
